Chemistry has been our family's passion for generations. In Silesia, nearly 35 years ago, in the days of exceptionally unfavourable business conditions, my grandfather founded his own factory producing construction chemicals, including concrete dyes. Since in those days private entrepreneurs had huge problems with finding the necessary raw materials, he decided to use abandoned smelting waste, lying around in heaps, in the production process. My grandfather's company is gone for over a decade, but his idea proved to be timeless. Dusted off after decades, with the help of state-of-the-art technology, it has become the cornerstone of another business in our family – the Cem-kolor company.

Our innovation, supported by the capital and experience of YouNick technology park and Przemysław Jury, private investor, is based on a process. In the modernised production hall in Katowice, using readily available and inexpensive smelting waste we will be manufacturing inorganic pigments used worldwide.

Unique know-how of Cem-kolor will be beneficial to many entities. Our customers – manufacturers of cobblestones and concrete paving blocks – will have a cheaper target product of equally high quality. Silesian smelters, instead of storing the waste, will be able to put it to good use, which will undoubtedly result in benefits to the environment and landscape of our region. Moreover, our company will also have a positive impact on the local economy – by creating more jobs.

The history of our family business has come full circle. Together we are building a new company. A company unique in its value, for it combines the knowledge and experience of the older generation with the visions and entrepreneurship of the younger. We believe that inorganic pigments made from smelting waste are just the beginning of our business. We hope that in the following years we will be able to add other colours and forms of our products to our offer – so that in addition to the segment of construction chemicals, we could find customers among the manufacturers of water-based and solvent-based paint, as well as in pharmaceutical and gastronomy sectors.
